About us

Melanie Feltman (Publisher, Editor-in-chief) is a writer and graphic designer. She thinks it would be fair to call her an entrepreneur since she founded Scoop, but doesn't really enjoy the business side of things. It's the brainstorming-interviewing interesting people-creating ads-writing articles-making new discoveries in her own backyard side of things that she really likes. Oh, well; every rose has it's thorn (she was once a Poison fanatic). When not obsessing over every detail of the next publication, she lives at home in Pike County with her 38-year-old husband Todd and 2-year-old son Connor. They have no pets (Chipper the black lab ran away and Murphy the yorkie moved to Texas; at least Murphy had the decency to let them know where he was going). She loves MySpace, Facebook, iTunes, and YouTube. Oh and painting. Painting's the greatest. She can be reached at publisher@readscoop.com.

Ellen Whiten, (Photographer) shoots people for money, but only with her camera. She got her first camera as a gift when she was thirteen and promptly started practicing on her poor unsuspecting cats. Lucky for them, she has now moved on to humans. When she's not squinting behind a viewfinder, she's at home in Fayetteville with her husband, Steve and their dog, Sadie. She loves music (especially 60s and 70s greats like Joe Cocker), movies, comedians, pop culture, MXC, Diet Dr. Pepper, and burning the midnight oil with her friends. She can be reached at photos@readscoop.com.

Jessica Williamson (Managing Editor) is a 23-year-old recent college graduate with a degree in English. Though she hated the one journalism class she took in college, by fate or luck, she wound up working for Scoop Magazine after she returned to Griffin and quickly (and thankfully) realized writing for a magazine differs greatly from newspaper writing. Without a journalism degree, the learning curve was steep but she's hanging in there and loving every minute. On the weekends she likes to get out of town and take thousands of pictures (seriously, she has 5841 photos saved on her computer). She can be reached at jessica@readscoop.com.

Chad Baker (Graphic Designer) is of unknown origins, yet several rumors persist. Most believe that he was brought forth by the dust of an ancient comet, his body forged through heat and time. He spends most of his existence documenting the lives of others by rendering their figures in crude drawings of coal, ink, or graphite. His graphic design work can be found throughout each publication of Scoop Magazine. His interests include restoring his new home, ornithology, and watching classic game shows (i.e. Family Feud and Joker's Wild). He can be reached at chad@readscoop.com.
